Defender_m1 (Inboard Version)
12m D-Tube Centre Console - Special Operations Patrol Boat

Design Brief:

To design a 12m-centre console d-tube patrol vessel in marine grade aluminium that will provide performance, sound engineering, optimised internal space, able to integrate modular weaponry, inboard motor driven and seating for 12 crew (max pax 14).

Design Solution:

To meet the design brief, Allure Marine commenced the initial design stage developing a range of concepts that for fill all aspects of the design brief. A variety of designs where produced in 2D sketch form each having unique features the finalised concept evolved through the integration of several concepts. Through this process we established “the defender_m1 (outboard version”).

Since we had established or finalised concept further development could begin such as the preliminary hull design. This entailed the creation of the defender_m1 hull through the utilisation of hull surface modelling software to create a hull that for filled all the performance and sea keeping requirements.

Design Features:

Protection against abrasion through close encounters with other vessels foresaw the integration of a d-tube foam fender running from the bow aft to the transom. This foam fender can be easily mounted to the upper topsides through the utilisation of SIKA-FLEX.

The Defender_m2 (Outboard version) makes use of twin Hamilton Jet water jets combined with twin inboard Yanmar diesel engines. This power and propulsion combination gives the Defender_m2 the ability to outrun other vessels, optimum maneuverability, decreased time required from being stationary to plane.

The Defender_M1 allows for up to 12 crewmembers to be seated on Ullman jockey seats. The seating arrangement allows for a walk around deck limiting any obstructions. The simplistic internal layout means for easy build and decreased build time.

The captain and navigator are seated side by side aft and have accessibility to the centre console. This centre console is equipped with all the navigation and electronics equipment one would expect of a special operations/patrol boat.

Structural Design:

The internal structure has been designed to minimise components, retain rigidity, optimum weight and meet regulations of a class society such as DNV.
