Defender_m2 (Inboard Version)
12m D-TubePiltohouse - Special Operations Patrol Boat

Design Brief:

To design a 12m-centre pilot housed d-tube patrol vessel in marine grade aluminium that will provide performance, sound engineering, optimised internal space, able to integrate modular weaponry, inboard motor driven and seating for 8 crew (max pax 14).

Design Solution:

To meet the design brief, Allure Marine took upon evolving their previous design the Defender_m1. Instead of the centre console we would integrate a pilothouse that continued the minimalistic design characteristic. A variety of pilothouse designs where produced in 2D sketch form each having unique design features. From these varying concepts a finalised pilothouse concept was chosen.

Following on from the finalised pilothouse concept we now had to evolve the Defender_m1 in order to incorporate our new pilothouse design. General elevations and 3D study models where produced in order to create the Defender_m2 (pilothouse version).

The Defender_m2s’ pilothouse is designed to offer crew protection from harsh exterior conditions. Additionally the pilothouse foresees protection against enemy fire allowing the captain, navigator & crew to be shielded/protected given the incorporation of internal ballistic panels.

Design Features:

Protection against abrasion through close encounters with other vessels foresaw the integration of a d-tube foam fender running from the bow aft to the transom. This foam fender can be easily mounted to the upper topsides through the utilisation of SIKA-FLEX.

The Defender_m2 (Outboard version) makes use of twin Hamilton Jet water jets combined with twin inboard Yanmar diesel engines. This power and propulsion combination gives the Defender_m2 the ability to outrun other vessels, optimum maneuverability, decreased time required from being stationary to plane.

The Defender_M2 allows for up to 8 crewmembers to be seated within the pilothouse on Ullman jockey seats. The simplistic internal layout means for easy build and decreased build time.

Structural Design:

The internal structure has been designed to minimise components, retain rigidity, optimum weight and meet regulations of a class society such as DNV.
