The Shogun
12m D-tube Patrol Boat
Spacifically developed for shallow water operation optimised for rivers, inland waterways estries.
This particular patrol boat design utlisies an optimised hull form designed for the use in shallow waterways comined with twin Castoldi waterjets & twin yanmar 530hp inboard diesel engines.
Design Characteristics
12m D-tube patrol boat : Shogun
Design Process:
Through carefull consideration of the clients design requirement we produced a number of concepts in 2D sketch format.Working closely with the client we refined our conceptual sketches, renderings, 3D study models & preliminary hull analysis to establish our latest design the Shogun.
Key Design Characteristics

•
Material marine grade aluminium or composite
• D-tube foam side fenders
• Increased fwd/aft deck areas
• Saftey cell pilothouse & lowerdeck areas
• Operation in shallow waterways
• Accomodates 4 crew (4 fwd bunks)
• Shower/toilets areas
• Galley (fridge, hotplates, sink, storage ect.)
• Bridge (captains & navigator areas)
• Ullman Atlantic series seating
• Paramilitary issue navigation equipment
Hull Design:
The Shogun incorperates a hull form that is spacifically designed for shallow water operation. The Shogun is equiped with a medium deadrise & graduated planning surface hull form
this assures it's performance & ride characteristics through shallow water navigation.
• Medium deadrise hull
• Optimised ridding plate
• Marine grade aluminium or composite
• Spray rails & chine lift plate
Interior Design:

Our goal was to design an interior that would accomodate 4 crew for extended missions/special operations. The Shogun incoperates a fwd crew cabin equiped with bunks and equipment storage. Following on aft from the crew quaters are toilet & shower areas equiped with sinkage and storage draws and lockers.
The Shoguns lowerdeck contains a galley equiped with hot plates, sink, storage space, refridgorator ect. On extened periods of time given particular special operations missions the crew can prepair thier food & be seated in the seating area next to the glalley.
• Bridge Deck
The upper bridge provides the captain and navigator with an open dashboard & working area. The upper deck allows for clear visulabilty due to the elevation and glazing arrangment. The upper bridge
provides seating for captain, navigator & two crew members.
Propulsion:
Due to the Shoguns operation in shallow waterways we sought after a waterjet set-up. Therefore the Shogun utlisises twin T.D 340 Castoldi waterjets powered by Twin Yanmar LY-CX 530hp diesel engines. The combination between waterjet and engine allows for the Shogun to move through waterways at speed in situations where this craft needs to pursue enemy vessels
